The vast majority of Lapland is unpopulated and it has been like that since the Ice Age.
It's the perfect location to truly concentrate what really matters - your love and connection to each other.
I want you to remember:

Because real memories don’t need a stage. They need space.
My approach is minimal, calm, and unobtrusive – stepping in only when guidance supports the moment, and stepping back when something real is happening.

Lapland's expansive quiet forests and unique Arctic scenery offer one of the best wedding experiences in Scandinavia.
From start to finish, Jaakko helped us every step of the way - from providing his ideas, guidance, and expertise for locations, logistics, and how to really get into the mood/vibe for the day, to even researching and reaching out to vendors where we had difficulties (navigating Google in a foreign language was an obstacle).
Most of all, though, he brought such a genuine attitude and vibe, almost like we were old friends reconnecting after a long while. We really did feel at ease and comfortable, and without that, there’s no way we would have had such an amazing experience.

If you're familiar with the Nordic countries, you're aware that the weather can be quite variable. However, it's reassuring to note that the region is largely free from severe natural disasters. There are virtually no tornadoes, significant storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or wildfires, making it a relatively safe environment in terms of natural threats.

Winter weddings (From November to April in Lapland)
Winter in Lapland is demanding, so it's crucial to equip yourself with proper attire and a dose of Finnish sisu, which embodies determination and resilience. Winter affects everything: pace, light, planning, clothing, and mindset – but when handled well, it offers some of the rawest and most unforgettable wedding day emotions I’ve ever photographed.
During the summer, the Midnight Sun casts a special glow, making the surroundings extraordinary. This natural phenomenon keeps the night almost as bright as the day, with the sun hovering just above the horizon. You can enjoy hiking and other activities all night long under the continued brightness of the sun.

In autumn, Lapland transforms as the forests burst into vibrant colors, creating a stunning display known as "ruska." The shorter days and cooler temperatures make this a perfect time for cozy outdoor activities like berry picking and nature walks under the colorful canopy. As the sun sets earlier, you also get the chance to witness the breathtaking Northern Lights, adding a magical touch to the crisp autumn evenings.

Lapland is famous worldwide, and some areas have become extremely busy – especially around Santa Claus Village and other tourism-driven spots. Those places can be fun to visit, but they rarely offer the quiet, intimate feeling most couples are hoping for when they choose Lapland for their wedding day.
If you picture saying your vows in silence, hearing only wind or snow beneath your feet, or feeling like the world belongs only to you for a moment, then we’ll look for locations that are less obvious, more meaningful, and intentionally chosen for privacy.
This doesn’t mean hiking for hours or doing anything extreme – just choosing differently. Lapland still has many peaceful places where you can avoid the crowds, feel safe, and create a moment that’s truly yours.

A Quick Note About Lapland Locations

Lapland is not quiet everywhere – you need to know where to go
1) Apply for the Examination of Impediments
Do this at least a month in advance – processing may take up to two weeks.
2) Fill out the Required Forms for Foreigners
Both of you will need to provide the necessary information before receiving the certificate.
3) Arrange Two Witnesses (15+ years old)
I’m happy to serve as one witness, and I can help arrange the second.
4) Choose Between a Civil or Religious Ceremony
Civil weddings are arranged through the local Digital & Population Data Services Agency, while religious ceremonies must follow each community’s own requirements.
And if you’d love to exchange vows outdoors in real nature, I can personally connect you with people in Finland who can legally marry couples outside offices and in nature settings.
