While you probably know what elopement is (if you're not sure yet, check this blog post), adding adventure might sound somewhat confusing. For me, adventure means taking a journey you've always wanted to, doing exciting things, and exploring interesting places.
I believe everyone can elope in a way that feels like an adventure. For some, adventure elopement means climbing to the highest peak, but for some, elopement is already the adventure. For them, it means leaving the traditions behind and making new ones together. The key thing, in my experience, is going somewhere where the focus is solely on your love and connection. The best place, in my opinion, is the North of Europe.
In my elopement experiences, I love to leave some space for spontaneity because, in my experience, the best trips never go as planned. A day with overcast skies and some rainfall will make it more memorable than a day with a seemingly "perfect" blue sky and sunshine. This is because rain and clouds create authenticity and enhance the feeling of an adventurous experience.
When planning your elopement or intimate wedding, I think it's essential to let go of any boundaries and limitations. Don't worry about what others are doing or what you think you should do. Instead, focus on your experience, what will make you and your partner feel the most alive, happy, and in love.
Oftentimes we're too practical and forget that with some creative thinking it's possible to experience things that we couldn't even think about in the beginning. How does it sound to plan everything for your own experience in mind and forget every obligation towards other people?
I truly believe that no two elopements or intimate weddings are the same. Each couple is unique, and your wedding day should reflect that. So, let your imagination run wild and dream big! This is your chance to create a day that is authentic to your relationship and celebrates your love in a way that is true to you.
As you start planning, don't worry too much about the details just yet. This is your time to dream, envision, and let your love guide you. The memories captured in your photos will be a beautiful reminder of the magic you shared. After all, your elopement day is about creating an experience you will cherish forever.
As you plan your dream elopement, consider what's your best adventure together? What did you do, and what made it an adventure? I believe your elopement should celebrate your unique story, so let your imagination run wild.
Maybe you're imagining a cozy cabin in the woods, a breathtaking mountaintop, a quiet beach, or a golden hayfield. How long would you want to spend at your elopement location? Do you want to spend a weekend, a week, or two weeks with a honeymoon included?
Do you want to keep it intimate with just the two of you or include your closest friends and family? Check out my FAQ section if you're interested in having your family with you.
And finally, think about what you want to do on your special day. Do you want to seek adventure by hiking to an epic viewpoint, taking a helicopter ride to a hidden gem, or kayaking down a river? Or rather than exploring, you might want to make food together or just relax and take in the moment.
Remember, this is your elopement, and there are no limits to what you can do. It's all about creating a day that's true to who you are and celebrates your unique story.

Hey, I'm Jaakko. A few years ago, I married my wife pretty traditionally. At the time, it felt like the best decision. However, I didn't quite understand how emotional the day would feel and how hard it was to be 100% myself. We didn't get a meaningful experience as a couple because we were self-conscious in front of crowds and cared too much about what everyone else was doing. It's easy to say now that because both my wife and I are all about experience, and we should've eloped.
So, I want to help couples learn from my experience and understand that they are allowed to plan a day that is just for them and about their love.
